A Philippi villager was yesterday charged with attempting to murder another man over a memory card.
Ramson Thomas, 23, of Philippi Village, was charged with the attempted murder of Hubert Fredricks. He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in the Georgetown court of Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
It is alleged that Thomas, at Philippi Village, on November 25, stabbed Fredricks to his stomach with a knife. Fredricks, the court heard, visited Thomas’ house to inquire about a memory card. When the matter was reported to the police, Thomas was arrested and charged.
Based on the seriousness of the offence and the fact that Fredericks was hospitalised, the prosecution objected to bail. Thomas was subsequently remanded to prison by Magistrate Azore. The case will be called again on December 7 for statements.
