Peter Glen, age 63, of Grant Perseverance, Lower Pomeroon River and Westbury, Essequibo Coast was yesterday placed on bail after being charged with raping a 12 year old girl.
The man appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrates Court before Magistrate Sunil Scarce yesterday and was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between the 1st to the 30th of September 2015 at Westbury, he engaged in sexual penetration with a child under 16 years old.
This newspaper was told that the child and her siblings are now in the care of the Child Protection Agency.
The man was not represented in court by an attorney and after considering the matter, he was placed on $125,000 bail by Magistrate Scarce and was ordered to report to the sergeant in charge of the Anna Regina Police Station every Monday at 9 am.
He was ordered to return to court on December 8th for commencement of the trial into the matter.
