The New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation was last week bestowed with the Guyana Manu-facturing and Services Associa-tion’s (GMSA) President’s Award for export achievement this year.
It was the fourth time that the company had won the award. The award was for rapidly expanding domestic and overseas markets for its products Limacol, Ferrol Compound and Nutrophos Nerve Tonic. The award was conferred on the company last Wednesday at the GMSA’s annual dinner and awards ceremony at the Pegasus Hotel.
Also winning awards on Wednesday were facilitators of London’s City and Guilds examinations; JTW Associates Ltd. Their award was given for the company’s contributions to educational services in Guyana. GMSA said that JWT’s owner Joycelyn Williams was the person instrumental in bringing the exams back here after 30 years.
Her company offers certifiable courses for City and Guilds in Customer Service, English for Office Use and Marketing.
Umami Inc. won an award for their innovative labelling and packaging with Guyanese raw materials
Ground coffee producers Amy’s Pomeroon Foods was presented with an award for their incorporating of advanced technology mechanisms in the processing of their product.
For its unbroken years of consistency in superior Insurance Services to the Manufacturing and Services Industries, Abdool and Abdool Inc. was also given an award.
The Massy Group of Companies was honoured with an award for its 50 years of service to Guyana and attaining international certification.
Local call service providers Qualfon was given an award in recognition of its contributions to the growth and development of the ICT sector here.
Meanwhile, lifetime achievement awards were presented to Sattaur Gafoor of Gafsons Industries and GMSA President Norman Mclean.
