Rene Gordon, who was on trial for engaging in sexual activity with a minor, was yesterday freed at the conclusion of his trial in the High Court.
A visibly-relieved Gordon was moved to tears when the forewoman announced that the jury had unanimously found him not guilty on both charges of sexual activity with a minor, which had been levelled against him.
“The jury has found you not guilty and you are free to go,” Justice Roxane George, who presided over the trial, told the tearful Gordon.
The charges against the man stated that on June 12th and June 19th, 2012, in the county of Demerara, he engaged in sexuality activity with a child under the age of 16.
The trial was held in camera at the High Court in Georgetown.
The state was represented by attorney Orinthia Schmidt.
