The Board of the Uncle Eddie’s Home (UEH) says it is elated at the news that title to the land on which the senior citizen facility is located has been passed to the Home. “We are happy that this process which started in 2013 is now complete. We wish to thank the present and previous administrations for staying with the process to the end and especially thank Dr. Roger Luncheon who was the key person in making this happen and our Patron Mr. Hamley Case who took the initiative to lead us in this direction. “The Home can now move ahead with its rebuilding and remodelling plans and is appealing to the private sector and the public to support us with donations to help us build a state of the art seniors home”, a statement from UEH said on Thursday. The Home is currently in its 40th year.
On Wednesday, the government announced that cabinet has approved the title of state land at Tucville, Georgetown to UEH. Minister of State Joseph Harmon made the announcement at his post-Cabinet press briefing saying government hopes now that the developmental works planned for the facility can proceed.
He explained that since the 3.2 acres of land was owned by the state, work on the home was stymied. As such government decided to gift the land to the home.
