DHAKA, Bangladesh, CMC- Chris Gayle unleashed a blazing unbeaten 92 as Barisal Bulls flattened Chittagong Vikings by eight wickets in the 28th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) here yesterday.
Gayle struck nine sixes and six fours in his 47-ball knock to ensure Barisal consolidate their position in the top half of the BPL standings on 12 points.
Trinidad and Tobago’s all-rounder Kevon Cooper grabbed two wickets for 24 runs to help restrict Vikings to 135 for seven from their 20 overs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Mirpur.
Gayle’s hostile innings carried them home for the loss of two wickets with 30 balls remaining.
The big Jamaican opener took over the big hitting from Mehedi Maruf by slamming Asif Ahmed for 18 in the fifth over of the innings.
The carnage continued when Gayle collected 25 runs from a Jeevan Mendis over including four sixes.
Naeem Islam and Tillakaratne Dilshan also came under fire, as Gayle brought up his 53rd T20 half-century in just the 13th over with Barisal cantering to victory.
