(Trinidad Express) “This is extremely painful on the part of the players. But at some point we have to make a stand,” stated Trinidad and Tobago international goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams.
“We don’t want to give up the opportunity to qualify and play against the likes of Brazil, Argentina and Chile and so on by winning the January 8 playoff game in Panama. But this is ridiculous.”
Yesterday, the captain of the Trinidad and Tobago national football team, Kenwyne Jones indicated that the entire Trinidad and Tobago senior men’s national squad will opt out of their next international match against Haiti for the highly-anticipated Copa Centario qualifier, unless they are paid outstanding match fees. The threat was issued in a release by Jones and confirmed by goalkeeper Williams yesterday.
