The Pepsi Hornets returned to the National Park Saturday determaned to retain the Gtt 10s champion’s trophy.
That is exactly what they did, emphatically.
The ruggers in blue and red finished on 15 points and at the top of the points table after a 22-nil blanking of the Yamaha Caribs in a one sided affair.
Two tries by Rickford Cummings, a try apiece by Blaise Bailey and Troy Bascom along with a Cummings’ conversion completed the stinging defeat of the Theo Henry-led outfit who finished on five points. In the second game of the double header, the UG Wolves defeated arch rivals GDF 17-12 to finish on 10 points but the militia men who were the virtual leaders heading into Yesterday’s final matches, finished on 13.
Joshua Griffith led the student ruggers with two tries while captain Rondell ‘Bull’ McArthur and Godfrey Broomes chipped in with a try and a conversion respectively.
The tourney brought the curtain down on the 2015 rugby season.
