The prime suspect in the murder of a Brazilian man who was discovered dead at Arau, Wenamu River more than one week ago, has been arrested and is expected to be charged shortly.
The police said in a press release that the body of Jose Oliveira Silva, 62, was found on December 5 at Arau, bearing marks of violence.
The release stated that following investigations and based on information received the prime suspect was arrested on Friday at Kaikan.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday, Commander of ‘F’ Division, Rabindranath Budhram, said that the suspect is expected to be charged during this week. He explained that based on information gathered, Silva and another man were involved in a fight during which he was chopped about his body. He subsequently died.
