A teenager was yesterday charged with breaking and entering a house and stealing over $200,000 in cash and valuables.
It is alleged that Denzil Edwards, 18, of Lot 56 West Front Road, between December 11 and December 12, at Lot 53 Laing Avenue, broke and entered the dwelling place of Carlon Barker.
It is further alleged that Edwards stole from the home $75,800 in cash, an iPad, a mobile phone, and a gas bottle, all amounting to a total of $199,800 in value. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Although the police prosecutor did not object to bail, he told the court that the stolen items were not recovered.
Edwards was eventually released on $200,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
He is expected to make a second appearance in court on January 15, when the matter is due to be called for statements.
