The Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Western Tigers secured contrasting wins when the fifth edition of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Banks Beer Knockout Cup commenced at the Eve Leary Sports Club ground on Sunday.
The lawmen arrested Eastveldt United by a 2-1 margin. Leron Charles and Keron Boston fired the shots for the Police in the fifth and 89th minutes respectively. For the defeated East Ruimveldt based unit, David George scored in the eight minute.
Meanwhile Western Tigers dismantled Hope FC by a 5-0 margin. Randolph Wagner led the West Ruimveldt outfit with a double in the 39th and 70th minutes while Jamal Pedro netted a brace in the 72nd and 85th minutes.
Netting solo efforts were Dwayne Ali and Darren Benjamin in the 21st and 60th minute respectively. Action in the tournament will continue on Saturday December 19th.
Winner of the tourney will receive two million dollars and the championship trophy while the second, third and fourth place finishers will pocket one million, $500,000 and $250,000 respectively along with the corresponding accolade.
