Residents of the Essequibo Coast are relieved that their flooding woes could soon be over now that the construction of a pump station at Lima Village has finally been completed.
The project involved removing a smaller pump and replacing it with a larger one. This would provide adequate drainage, especially to rice farmers who had suffered severe losses.
Stabroek News was told that the smaller pump would be taken to Hampton Court to serve the residents of that area.
The project, which cost $191.5M and was undertaken by Samaroo’s Investment, got started in January of this year and had experienced some delays.
