A Guyana Under-19 side yesterday produced a sterling all-round performance to beat the touring Trinidad & Tobago Academy U19 team by 41 runs at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground, Bourda.
Batting first, Guyana made 190 all out in 48.4 overs with Raymond Perez top scoring with 45. Parmesh Parsotam (42) and Balchand Baldeo (17) were the other top scorers. Baldeo added 90 for the ninth wicket with Ashmead Nedd.
For the tourists leg-spinner Mario Emilio picked up 3-20 while pacer Quanmie Mohamed (2-22) and Clevon Kalawan (2-47), supported well.
The tourist in reply were strangled by National Under-15 skipper Nedd who bagged 4-25 from his 10 overs, restring Trinidad to 149 all out in 39.2 overs despite Revon James’s 50 and knocks from Kegan Simmons (30) and Bryan Boodram (25). Nedd formed a useful attack with leg-spinner Kassim Khan (2-5) who picked up the final wickets and Essequibo left-arm spinner Akini Adams who chipped in with 2-30.
The next match bowls off on Friday at the Wales Community Center ground at 9:30hrs.
