KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC- Jamaica Scorpions head coach Junior Bennett is again lamenting his team’s inept batting performance following their 117 run defeat to Guyana Jaguars in the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) on Monday.
Set 326 for victory at Sabina Park, Scorpions crashed to 208 all out in their second innings on the final day of the fifth round contest.
After losing to Barbados Pride in the opening round, Scorpions rebounded with a three-match unbeaten run before crumbling to the spin of 20-year-old Gudakesh Motie who claimed six for 33.
“We are very disappointed [because] when you look at this surface here we know that the longer the match progresses the easier it is to bat on,” Bennett told the Jamaica Observer.
“If you look at it, the bowlers got more purchase on the first two days than what they got on the third and fourth days and we had all the chance to go out there, bat sensibly and get the required runs”.
