Powerlifting has been proudly putting Guyana on the sporting map especially in the last decade and corporate entities are beginning to take notice.
Branderz Guyana is one of them.
The Managing Director of the 254 Thomas Street (South Cummingsburg) establishment, Martin Brock, is aware of the lifters’ accomplishments on the international stage and will officially partner with the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) next year to outfit its athletes on overseas assignments, just as they “quietly” did during the recently concluded Commonwealth Championships in Vancouver, Canada.
According to the GAPF’s president, Peter Green, athletes of the nation’s most successful indoor sport will benefit from the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the federation and the new merchandise company.
“Branderz Guyana have been quietly supporting powerlifting but come next year we will be signing an MoU to make the company our official apparel supplier and customizer.”
Green thanked the sponsor of the outfits worn by the nine-member team which lifted eight gold medals and a silver medal. The GAPF head then extended heartiest congratulations to the athletes on their unprecedented successful medal haul at the recently concluded championships.
In an invited comment, Brock expressed delight and pleasure at the success of the National team which he has always known would succeed at the highest level and stated that he looks forward to a fruitful partnership with the federation come next year.
