Fifty-two recruits of the Guyana Police Force yesterday completed their training at the Felix Austin Police College and Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud rewarded the force training officers and the commandants of the three police colleges and their staff with $150,000.
Persaud made the announcement while speaking at a passing-out parade held at the Tactical Services Unit square. The final courses for the year were held under the theme, ‘Training in partnership with valuable stakeholders to enhance the performance of our services.’
The commissioner in his brief remarks urged the recruits to protect themselves so that they can protect others in the society. He advised them to apply the tactics they would have been taught, “to make appreciation of situations and to know what techniques to employ.”
Prizes were handed over the outstanding graduates for each course. For recruit course 329, Constable 22904 Cain was awarded best student, followed by runner-up Constable 22910 David. The prize for the most improved student was awarded to Constable 22907 Cooper.
From recruit course 330, Constable 22946 Fraser received the best graduating student prize and the runner-up was Constable 22960 Pearson. Constable 22952 Inniss was most improved student.
This year the Guyana Police Force had a total of 21 courses which saw 745 recruits formally inducted to serve Guyana.
