Telecommunications giant, Digicel, Wednesday, gave the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Boxing Day event a major top up by once again agreeing to be a major sponsor of the annual fixture.
According to a release, Sponsorship Executive, Louanna Abrams, pledged Digicel’s support by presenting the financial pact to president of the KMTC, Cecil Kennard, during a simple ceremony at the company’s head office in Kingston.
Digicel has sponsored the event on numerous occasions.
The annual Boxing Day meet, which is staged at the club’s Bush Lot, Corentyne track, has been one of the country’s year-end tradition over the years and this year’s meet is being deemed the ‘biggest’ in recent years. In excess of six million dollars in cash and prizes will be up for grabs on the seven-race card.
The feature C and Lower, one mile event, will see the owner of the top steed, pocketing an appetizing one million dollars.
International jockeys are expected from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and other countries to participate in the meet and more horses are expected to compete in the races this year.
Action starts from 13:30hrs. Admission is $1200 for adults.
