Colts swept aside the University of Guyana (UG) Trojans in the Open and U23 divisional matchups when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) 2015 League Championship continued Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The first period started brightly for the Trojans as they took a 13-8 lead. The lead was marginally built upon in the second quarter as Trojans outscored Colts by a 15-14 margin to take a 28-22 lead into the half time interval.
The momentum of the matchup changed in the third period as Colts seized the lead, out-shooting their foe by a 24-13 margin to go into the final period leading 46-41. Colts then held off Trojans in the final period to clinch the hard-fought win as they were outscored by a 19-15 score line.
In the U23 section Colts crushed Trojans by a 94-56 margin. Similarly, in the second matchup of the section, Eagles clawed their way past Plaisance Guardians by a 119-79 score line.
