The Number 66 steel truss bridge in Region Six will be undergoing rehabilitation, a process that is estimated to last six months.
According to a press release from GINA, to ensure traffic flow, the bridge will be rehabilitated one side at a time, and there will be traffic officers present to guide vehicles.
Corrosion to the bridge was caused by salt water over the years and parts of the structure had been damaged during an accident.
The bridge will be sandblasted and anti-corrosive paint used to protect it from the salt water.
The bridge stretches over a 100-foot creek and its rehabilitation is estimated to cost about $28.6 million, GINA said.
