Roraima Airways held its annual Veteran’s Luncheon yesterday where 25 veterans were fed and entertained at the Duke Lodge, Duke Street, Kingston. CEO of Roraima Airways Gerry Gouveia said that while the event has been going on for the last 6 years, his drive comes from his time serving alongside the veterans in the Guyana Defence Force as an officer when he was younger. “These veterans are at some bumpy trails in their lives, a lot of them are disabled and some have even lost their sight, and I think that their services that they have given to Guyana is way beyond the call. Gouveia said that he is urging the private sector to play a much more pivotal role in assisting and taking care of the veterans and that he is in full support of President David Granger’s idea of developing a veteran policy.
