A Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) man is nursing several wounds to his head and face after being stabbed by a drunken group of two men and a woman on Christmas day.
Krishnadat Narine sustained wounds to his temple, face and throat after he was attacked by the trio after he attempted to keep the peace on Christmas morning.
Narine told Stabroek News that he was at a shop in La Grange, WBD at around 7:30 in the morning purchasing something for his home when a car drove up and a group of two men and two women exited. Shortly after, he said, an argument ensued between the two men and one of the women, all of whom were visibly intoxicated.
The man said that from what he can recall, the argument began because one of the women did not want to accompany the rest of the group anymore.
Narine related that he told the group to “ease off’ since it was Christmas morning but one of the men responded by threatening him before leaving the shop. He said he did not consider the threat serious as he was familiar with the two men.
However, not long after leaving, the group returned and began stabbing him about the face with broken beer bottles.
Narine related that after being stabbed, he started to feel faint and began bleeding profusely and attempted to run away. He recalled that a cousin of his who was passing at the time, saw him bleeding and stopped his car to render assistance. They went to La Grange Police Station.
However, upon their arrival, ranks on duty instructed Narine’s cousin to take him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital as he was losing a lot of blood as a result of his stab wounds. Narine explained that he is unable to say what happened after that as he started to feel faint.
When Stabroek News spoke to him last evening, Narine confirmed that he was treated at the hospital and sent away after receiving over 30 stitches for the injuries he sustained as a result of the assault. He is also expected to undergo a CT scan for his head injuries as he is now suffering from severe headaches.
Additionally, Narine said, he has since visited the La Grange Police Station where he was able to positively identify his attackers during an identification parade.
Police at La Grange confirmed that two men and a woman are currently in custody in relation to the incident as investigations continue.
