Dear Editor,
The story about Mr Aubrey Squires and Mr Milton Massiah in the Christmas Day edition told of the bureaucratic challenges faced by them in accessing their benefits (‘At least we does eat,’ SN).
All Guyanese would no doubt be happy if the Ministry of Social Protection and the Ministry of Citizenship are able to sort out the birth certificates and other benefits for Mr Squires and Mr Massiah before the end of 2015. More than the one-off Christmas cheer, there might be other persons whose sustainable access to the good life might also be limited by identification documents.
Yours faithfully,
Vidyaratha Kissoon
