The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC), the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman (GUSIA), the Central Islamic Organization of Guyana (CIOG) and the Muslim Youth Council (MWC), representing the wider Muslim community, will create history when for the first time in Guyana, an Eid Milad un Nabi Jaloos (motorcade for Youman Nabi) will be held on Sunday, January 3rd, a release from the ACIC said yesterday.
The release said that given time constraints, the organisers are confining the event to the West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo area but plan to make the event an annual one and expand it to the other regions of the country next year.
International Sunni Muslim organization, Dawate Islam, through its branch in Birmingham, England, is lending its support to the event by supplying flags and decorations. Hadji Syed Muhammad Fuzail Attari, Head of Dawate Islam, Birmingham, together with a delegation from Holland, Suriname, Belgium and Pakistan is scheduled to attend the event.
The release said that the motorcade will move from Windsor Forest at 9 am and will proceed west on the West Demerara highway to Cornelia Ida, where the convoy will then slow to allow persons to come out of the vehicles and move with the procession on foot, waving hundreds of flags until they reach ACIC.
The release said that the event is part of the activities being staged by the Muslim community here to observe the Birth Anniversary of the Prophet of Islam.
