Miscommunication among three parties has led to them enjoying their favourite meal and engaging in a discussion as to what resulted in the assault charges brought against each other.
Susanna Richardson, Clinton Waldron and common-law wife Sandra Mars were each read charges of assault following an incident said to have taken place on December 22, at Lot 64, Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust. Richardson and Mars were also charged with using threatening language against each other.
The three accused pleaded not guilty to all charges read.
The incident is said to have occurred after Mars, who lives with her common-law husband, Waldron, next door to Richardson threw money over Richardson’s head to her cousin who was behind Richardson.
Mars stated that she had asked Richardson to pass the money to her cousin, however she refused, which led to the money being thrown. This resulted in an argument ensuing between the two and slaps being fired at each other. It was at this time that Waldron got involved in the scuffle. The matter was later reported to the police by Mars.
Upon further probing, Magistrate Alex Moore unearthed that the situation built up given the fact that both parties have been complaining about loud noise coming from the other’s homes. Richardson stated that persons would visit Mars’ and Waldron’s home and bang against the window and speak loudly which would disturb her and when she brings the matter to Mars’ attention it is ignored.
Mars, on the other hand, complained that when Richardson’s four children would jump on the bed it would bang against the plyboard that separates their residences. She added that she has had her plates and a wall clock broken but she has never asked Richardson to compensate her for the damage. Mars further added that all she wants is peace.
In the interest of bringing around peace for the new year, Magistrate Moore ordered the parties to cook each other’s favourite meal, chicken fry rice for Richardson and curry pork and rice for Mars and have a sit down on the two occasions to highlight what went wrong and what can be done to correct the situation. He added that since Waldron was not directly involved in the situation he should just sit in on the sessions. After the two separate sit downs, one which was set for yesterday at Mars’ and Waldron’s residence and the other for today at Richardson’s residence, the three were ordered to report back to Magistrate Moore on what they learnt on January 12, 2016 or they would be ordered to sign bonds to keep the peace.
