A Yarrowkabra resident was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge that he had severed another man’s hand.

It is alleged that Chris Ting-A-Kee, 57, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Devon Evans at Yarrowkabra, with intent to maim and disfigure him on December 27. The accused allegedly chopped the virtual complainant’s hand off with a cutlass.

Police prosecutor Deniro Jones, who objected to bail, petitioned that Ting-A-Kee should not be required to plead to the charge since the virtual complainant is still in the hospital with a severed hand.

Ting-A-Kee was subsequently remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. His next court appearance will be on January 15, 2016 at the Providence Magistrate’s Court, where the matter was transferred.
