Omission

Dear Editor,

Those who read my cricket pieces would, and indeed, should have been annoyed at the absence of the captain`s name in the last piece.

It is accounted for as a clerical (computer) error as a result of which a short paragraph was evidently deleted at some point in typing , and not noted at the end. It was in substance as follows:

“The captain was magnificent with the bat, providing the major contribution to making the batting respectable, and almost threatening, to the Australians. He demonstrated again why he could be an excellent batting or bowling all-rounder. If the former, he will need to improve some aspects of his technique.

This can be done fairly easily, as there is so much with which to work, and if the latter, he would have to bowl at least 8 kil per hour faster.

My apologies to both the captain and readers.

Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
