Jamaican magician Kemarch ‘Wizard’ Dodd will be in Guyana for two shows next weekend.
According to a press release from Vizion Sounds Promotions, Dodd is scheduled to perform at the MSC Ground in Linden on Saturday, July 25 and at the DCC Ground, Georgetown on Sunday, July 26.
Dodd has been a professional magician for eight years. He rolls his fingers, cuts coins or just keeps pulling pieces of cloth from thin air. His tricks also include making doves appear from thin air, producing balls from one’s ears and eggs from one’s mouth, making hard things appear to pass through glass, making women disappear and reappear, making a glass freeze in mid-air and making money change right before one’s eyes, among other things.
A firm believer in God, Dodd insists he is not doing anything supernatural or evil. The release said that Dodd’s illusions are “a deception of the eye, but more about the brain. The eye sends information to the brain.”
He was impressed at a young age by illusionist David Blaine and set about learning the skill. He spent three years studying before he started his practice, but still has more tricks to learn.
The release said too that aside from being a magician, Dodd enjoys playing the violin and football, in addition to performing as a clown, though he will never do magic tricks as a clown.
According to the release, children on the streets often flock him as testimony of the impact he has when he operates at birthday parties and in schools across Jamaica. His magic has been shown in other Caribbean islands such as Grenada and Curaçao.
For both shows, gates open at 3 pm and show time is at 6.30 pm. Tickets are available at Trendy Plus and Gizmos & Gadgets. Linden tickets costs $700 and Georgetown, $1000.
