Well that did not take long.
Moments after the New Year was ushered in there was an announcement of a mega card next month by officials of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC).
“The wheels are already in motion,” said one official of the upcoming card.
The fight card, which will be staged at the Giftland Mall on February 20, will likely include high profile fighters Elton ‘The Bully’ Dharry, Dexter ‘The Cobra’ Gonsalves, Mandessa Moses and Dexter ‘De Kid’ Marques. Exciting prospect, Imran ‘Magic’ Khan is also expected to make his second professional appearance.
According to the official, the US-based Dharry, Moses and Marques will match gloves with fighters from Brazil while Gonsalves, the WBC FECARBOX super
lightweight champion, will put his title on the line against Barbadian, Miguel Antoine.
Khan is schedules to lace it up against Antoine’s countryman, Ezra Lord.
A knockout night of boxing is indeed on the cards.
The GBBC official also disclosed that should Dharry (19W-5L-1D)and Gonsalves (8W-1L-2D) defeat their opponents, the duo will fight for the Commonwealth bantamweight and super lightweight titles respectively in May.
Plans are still in the pipelines and contracts are still to be signed but boxing starved fans are anticipating a solid night of fistic fury come February 20 at the edifice at Pattensen.
