Mayor Hamilton Green’s 81st birthday anniversary seven-a-side Inter-Ward football tournament will conclude Sunday at the Den Amstel Community ground, West Demerara.
Initially scheduled to be contested at the Banks DIH Limited, Thirst Park ground, the event will kick off from 14:00hrs with the opening quarterfinal fixture which brings together Kitty against Lima Dam.
In the second affair at 14:30hrs, Uitvlugt will oppose Haslington while the third quarterfinal will pit Victoria against Pouderoyen from 15:00hrs. The last quarterfinal fixture at 15:30hrs will pit Den Amstel against Mahaica.
Following the conclusion of the quarterfinal section, the semi-final round will commence from 16:00hrs, with the winner of the Kitty/Lima Dam encounter opposing the victor of the Victoria/Pouderoyen encounter.
The second semi-final affair will pit the winner of the Haslington/Uitvlugt matchup against the victor of the Den Amstel/Mahaica showdown. Upon the end of the final four section, the third place playoff will begin from 17:00hrs. The resulting grand finale will then occur at 17:30hrs.
Winner of the tournament will collect $200,000 and the John Fernandes sponsored Championship trophy while the second placed unit will receive $100,000 and respective accolade. The third placed unit will receive $70,000 and the Chine Trading sponsored trophy while the fourth placed unit will pocket $30,000 and the Business School sponsored trophy.
Similarly, the event’s highest goal scorer will receive a three-piece furniture suite from AH&L Kissoon whilst Ricks and Sari has donated 10 hampers the eventual winner and runner-up.
