A man and a dog were reportedly discovered dead in a yacht spotted drifting in the Atlantic Ocean offshore Guyana on Monday and investigators have since been deployed to the area to conduct investigations.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News that the discovery was made on Monday when members of a cruise liner saw the man and dog, both of whom appeared dead, and made checks. Blanhum said the persons immediately contacted the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD). The police were informed and two investigators have been dispatched to the location, along with members of the Coast Guard.
According to Blanhum, the journey to the yacht would take about 15 hours. The vessel is expected to be towed to the wharf.
Stabroek News understands that the yacht, which flew a French flag, is some 200 miles offshore Guyana.
