Shawn Barrow, the 23-year-old charged with the murder of East Ruimveldt resident, Kellon Hinds, will return to court on January 12, for the beginning of the preliminary inquiry.
This announcement was made yesterday by Magistrate Fabayo Azore, who is presiding over the matter.Barrow was charged with Hinds’ murder in September and has since then been represented by attorney George Thomas. At Barrow’s arraignment, Thomas had stated that it was quite unfortunate that his client had found himself in such a situation and charged that it was not the first time accusations have been made against his client by the relatives of Hinds. However, the attorney revealed that he is in possession of video footage that will show that Barrow was elsewhere at the time of the shooting.
Hinds, 22, called ‘Baje,’ of East Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown, was fatally shot in his family’s yard in the East Ruimveldt community just hours after being released from police custody.
According to members of his family, Hinds had been held by police as a suspect in the murder of Shawn’s brother, Sherwin Barrow, who was killed three months prior.
