Top spinners Sulieman Benn and Samuel Badree have confirmed their participation for the Legacy/007 Promotions’ Unity Cricket T20 match set for later this month at the Providence National Stadium.
According to a press release from the organisers, Benn, the 34-year-old left-arm spinner, who has played 26 Tests, 34 ODIs and 18 T20 Internationals for the West Indies and the 34-year-old Badree, the T20 world ranked number two leg-spin bowler, who has played 22 T20s for the West Indies will play for the President’s XI side which includes Rayad Emrit, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy, Krishmar Santokie and Nicolas Pooran to compete in the January 30 match.
Former Guyana and West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan will lead the local team which will include players like Veerasammy Permaul, Ronsford Beaton, Leon Johnson, Christopher Barnwell, Gudakesh Motie and Jonathon Foo.
Apart from the T20 encounter, a feature 10/10 ‘Open’ final will be contested under lights with action bowling off at 10:00hrs while five softball matches are set for the International venue from 11:00hrs.
The event has been approved by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the President’s Trophy and one million dollars will be at stake in the feature event.
