Courts made a new millionaire out of another customer, who was awarded $2 million in prize money after he was declared the winner of the company’s Big Prize promotion on Wednesday.
The final winner of the Big Prize promotion is Danesh Persaud, who initially did not believe he had won the grand prize when he got a call from Courts informing him of the results.
Speaking at the company’s Main Street branch, Persaud said the confirmation was done when he himself paid a visit to the Courts on Wednesday. “It feels good to be a millionaire in January, 2016,” Persaud said, while noting that his winnings will be placed into a bank account.
Under the annual Big Prize promotion, customers who shopped at Courts between November 1st and December 24th, entered to be one of seven persons who could win up to $2 million each.
In addition to rewarding Persaud, Courts on Wednesday also awarded $50,000 grocery vouchers to customers as part of its Mabe promotion. Under the promotion, 60 Mabe customers were eligible for the vouchers. Thirty winners were awarded last year and 15 of the remaining winners showed up at Courts on Wednesday to claim their vouchers. All the winners were overcome with joy as they mentioned the numerous food items they hope to buy with their vouchers.
Managing Director of Courts Guyana Clyde de Haas congratulated the winners and thanked everyone who supported Courts during the Christmas season.
