Colts, Sunday, reached the division one final of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) league championships after edging Ravens 82-80 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Dave Causeway recorded a game-high 32 points while Shelroy Thomas and Kurt English supported with 20 and 19 points respectively. Ryan Stephney and Ryan Gullen top scored with 18 points apiece for Ravens.
Chipping in with 13 and eight points respectively were Jermaine Slater and Dominic Vicente.
With the opening period failing to separate the teams (the period ended with the scores 20-20), Colts snatched a narrow one point advantage going into the half time interval, outscoring Raven 15-14 to lead 35-34.
Colts further strengthened their position upon resumption of the matchup, netting 28 points while restricting their foe to 20 points to enter the fourth and final stanza in control at 63-54.
The Carmichael Street unit then survived a late scare, desperately holding on to secure the win as they were outscored 19 points to 26 in the final stanza. Colts will now oppose Plaisance Guardians in the division one final.
In the opening fixture, Republic Nets defeated Knights 73-66 in their division two semi-final. Michael Richards with 24 points while Pelham Doris and Mortimer Williams were the next best scorers for Nets with 16 and 10 points respectively.
Owan Walton recorded 20 points while Aril Lewis and Kester Gomes netted 14 and nine points respectively for the losing team.
Nets now awaits the winner of the Pepsi Sonics and Melanie Patriots fixture.
The action will continue tomorrow at the same venue and at the end of the final group and semi-final matches, the divisional finals will commence. All divisional finals will be contested in a best-of-three format.
