Dear Editor,
I thank you for carrying my letter last Tuesday in which I suggested that the Middleton and Duncan Streets canals needed to be desilted.
I am happy to confirm that Middleton Street was at least partially desilted. I am not sure if the work was done as far as Sandy Babb Street. However, there are still some areas that could have been better excavated, especially at the southern extremity of the canal where there is a culvert. The council and contractors may wish to walk back along the canal and see areas that may need some more work.
I also wish, Editor, to urge the desilting of Duncan Street canal as this will bring some relief to the people of Bel Air Park. I also urge the authorities to take note of the unauthorized covering and extension of parapets. The canal at the western extremity by Vlissingen Road has been concreted, so this may prove a challenge.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Subryan
