A man is in custody assisting with investigations into the murder of Brazilian national, Josimar Pereira Silva who was killed during a robbery in September, last year at Mowasi Backdam, Mahdia.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed that the suspect, forty-one-year-old Joel Letlow, a miner of Sophia was arrested on Tuesday in Sophia.
He said while investigations are ongoing, Letlow has since admitted his involvement in the crime.
Stabroek New understands that Silva was allegedly hit to the head with a heavy object during a robbery that occurred between September 5 and 6, 2015 and which resulted in his death.
A case file will be sent shortly to the Director of Public Prosecutions’ chambers for legal advice.
