A Turkeyen resident was yesterday brought before a Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and charged for killing a Brazilian national.
It is alleged that Joel Bedlow, 43, 665 Section B Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara, between the 5th and 6th of September last year, murdered Brazilian national Josimar Perreira DaSilva during a robbery at Mowasi Backdam, Mahdia.
Bedlow was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
According to reports, DaSilva was allegedly hit to the head with a heavy object during a robbery, the impact of which resulted in his death.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum later confirmed that the suspect, Bedlow, a miner, was arrested and has since admitted his involvement in the crime.
Bedlow was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and his next court appearance will be on January 26th at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
