Three amateur boxers gained valuable experience from Tuesday’s ‘Boxing at the Castle’ competition at Brian Lara’s residence in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad despite returning home with losses.
Deshon Elcock (junior, 60kgs), Joel Williamson (elite, 60kgs) and Jamal Eastman (elite, 56kgs) were the nation’s representatives.
“We needed to support Trinidad and despite us not returning with any hardware, the experience that the fighters got was good,” said GBA President, Steve Ninvalle.
”We are happy that we supported Trinidad and we stand to support other Caribbean territories in the future,” he added.
Williamson and Eastman lost unanimously in their respective bouts while Coach Gregory Cort was forced to throw in the towel in the first round of Elcock’s bout.
Cort, in an invited comment, stated that he felt that Williamson and Eastman did enough to win their bouts but said that the judges scored otherwise.
