The Guyana Jaguars last night scored a convincing five-wicket win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) team in their final preliminary match of the West Indies Cricket Board’s NAGICO Super50 competition at Warner Park, in St Kitts.
Chasing the 254-7 made by the CCC team off their allotted 50 overs, the Jaguars reached 255-5 off 49.3 overs with Fudadin, who opened the batting, unbeaten on 103.
Skipper Leon Johnson scored 56 and featured in a second wicket stand of 90 with Fudadin following the early dismissal of opener Kevon Boodie.
The Jaguars at one stage seemed to be coasting towards the target but two run outs to Anthony Bramble and Christopher Barnwell when both batsmen seemed set for a big innings derailed the innings somewhat.
However, useful knocks from all-rounders Raymon Reifer, who made 16, Royston Crandon who retired hurt on 29 and Steven Jacobs who was left not out on 16 saw Guyana home.
Fast bowler Christopher Powell and off spinners Vikash Mohan and Mark Deyal each picked up a wicket.
Earlier, the CCC team, batting first, were led by a half century from all-rounder Rovman Powel who scored an unbeaten 63 and middle order batsman Anthony Alleyne who scored 57.
The CCC team received other useful knocks from wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton with 36 and Akeem Dewar with 26.
Reifer and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai captured two wickets each while Paul Wintz and Jacobs chipped in with a wicket each.
