Just over a month after being charged with impersonating a policeman, a minibus conductor found himself back in court on Friday facing the exact same accusation.
While Ronald Ramnarine, of Lot 2 Enterprise Road, East Coast Demerara, had been granted a bail release on the previous occasion that he was charged, he was remanded to prison on Friday.
It is alleged that on January 4, at Providence, East Bank Demerara, Ramnarine assumed the designation as a member of the police force to the public.
The court was made aware by the Police Prosecutor that there are several other matters of a similar nature pending against the accused. The prosecutor also pointed out that Ramnarine had been failing to show up to court.
Ramnarine was subsequently remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for January 29. In December, Ramnarine was accused of impersonating a policeman and soliciting money from a motorist, who was known to him.
