Emotions ran high among family members yesterday as three men appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of murder.
It is alleged that on January 1, 2016, at Greenwich Park, the men; Rocky Lallu, 27, Dhanraj Goberdhan, 29, known as Dhanny Boy and Abdool Hussain murdered Dewaun Anthony Baksh.
As they were entering the prison van, family members as well as the men broke down in tears while saying goodbye and shouting words of encouragement.
“Pray,” they were told. “And be strong to bear your chafe in there. You’re innocent and you would get out.”
Goberdhan, 29, asked them to, “look after my son.”
The accused who were unrepresented, were not required to plead to the indictable charge read to them by Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool. They are scheduled to return to court on April 28.
Reports are that Baksh, 22, of Tuschen, EBE was stabbed to death during an altercation with a group of men around 9:30 pm on January 1.
He sustained injuries to his neck and other parts of his body along with a gaping wound to his left shoulder.
A post-mortem examination showed that he died from shock and haemorrhage due to five stab wounds inflicted by three different weapons.
