Milo U20 schools football tournament starts Saturday

Petra Organisation and Nestle through its Milo brand, Monday launched its fourth U20 Schools football tournament which will get underway Saturday at the Ministry Of Education ground.

Thirty two secondary schools across Georgetown will compete for the $500,000 first prize while second, third and fourth placed finishers will pocket $300 000, $200 000 and $100 000 respectively.

During the brief media launching held at the Beepat’s Headquarters in Sophia, Nestle Caribbean’s Business Development Manager, Trinidadian Sudesh Mahase, said that his company was once again happy to be on board such a fruitful tourney which has been growing from strength-to-strength over the years.

“Part of the programme this year is where we want to have sessions on different aspects on lifestyles and the steps to healthy living in terms of education for nutrition,” said Mahase.

Petra boss and former national player Troy Mendonca expressed gratitude to the Nestle brand for the support.

Mendonca was also optimistic about the level of football which will be played by the young players.

Thandi McAllister, third vice president of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) said the GFF will continue to work closely with the Petra Organisation in ensuring the competition is run accordingly.
