Following the departure of several high profile players to arch-rivals Alpha United, Vergenoegen giant Slingerz FC has made its first move in the transfer period by acquiring the services of Golden Jaguar internationals Kester Jacobs and Quincy Adams.
Coach of the Slingerz FC unit Joseph ‘Bill’ Wilson during an invited comment said yesterday that the acquisition of the duo will be a great benefit to the team.
“They are excellent players and there are very experienced players at the international level,” he declared.
Asked they can help fill the void left by the recent high profile departures, he said “Definitely! They were more established in the national programme before and they are real quality players, all of them.”
Jacobs and Adams recently plied their trade for Surinamese outfit SV Nishan.
On the local front, the duo recently donned the colours of Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United before departing for the Dutch nation.
Interestingly, this will be Jacob’s second stint at the Vergenoegen side.
The West Demerara unit recently lost several vital players during the current transfer period despite securing the League Genesis championship of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite. Slingerz FC prevailed over Alpha ‘the Hammer’ United in the final by a 3-2 margin at the Leonora Sports Facility.
The players that made the trek across to the Georgetown unit are defenders Colin Nelson, Joshua Browne and Solomon Austin along with midfielder Dwain Jacobs and veteran forward Anthony `Awo’ Abrams.
