The quarter finals of the Mobile Wizard 10/10 tournament organized by the Guyana Softball League will get cracking today at the Tuschen Ground.
The matches to be contested are Wolf’s Warriors against Vipers XI; Crossbreed Warriors against Omesh XI; Settle XI versus Speedboat XI and Leonora Youths against Power XI.
Wolf’s Warriors, despite their defeat to Speedboat XI will start as favourites although Vipers XI will be looking to give them a run for their money.
The match between Crossbreed Warriors and Omesh XI is a toss-up between evenly matched sides although Omesh XI boasting Ricardo Adams and Vickram Kisson should start as slight favourites.
Settle XI, having lost to Speedboat XI in an earlier encounter will be looking to turn the tables this time around and will look to all-rounders Diaram Persaud and skipper Nazim Azeem to lead the way.
However, Speedboat XI, unbeaten so far in the competition will look to maintain their winning ways and as such a keen contest is anticipated.
The final quarter final match will pit Leonora Youths against Power XI in a repeat of last round’s match when Power XI won.
Leonora Youths has pledged to reverse the outcome this time around.
There will also be a Masters exhibition match between Parika Defenders and West Coast Blazers and an exhibition match between Leguan Superstars and Omesh XI.
In the female competition, Well Woman will play Lady Jags.
The semifinals and final will take place on February 13.
The tournament is being sponsored by Mobile Wizard, Trophy Stall, Miss Love (West Coast) Trading, Rohan’s Furniture Establishment and Imtiaz and Imran Hack.
