Gov’t still to move on Integrity Commission

Despite promises to speedily set up the Integrity Commission, the APNU+AFC government is yet to do so and there is no indication of when it will be done.

The matter was raised last week after government amended a motion by PPP/C Member of Parliament (MP) Juan Edghill which sought to have all MPs make public their tax returns to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) over the last 10 years. After the government amendments, the motion that was eventually passed by the National Assembly instead called for the reinforcement of the existing legal requirements to have MPs file their income tax returns and make annual declarations to the Integrity Commission.
