Man jailed for wounding

Brian Dummett was yesterday sentenced to nine months in jail after he pleaded guilty to wounding another man.

Dummett was read four charges by Magistrate Annette Singh when he appeared before her in a city court.

It was alleged that on January 20, at Roxanne Burnham Gardens, he unlawfully wounded Winston Parris and behaved in a threatening manner to him. He was also accused of damaging a window pane, valued $3,000 and a removable property of a private nature belonging to Parris. It was also alleged that he breached a protection order on the same day.

Dummett pleaded guilty to the wounding and property damage charges but pleaded not guilty to the charges of threatening behaviour and breaching a protection order.

As a result, the magistrate sentenced Dummett to nine months in jail and also fined him $20,000.
