A Bagotstown miner, who told a court that he used cannabis for medicinal purposes, was yesterday refused bail on a trafficking charge.
Ricky Nelson, 56, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday and he pleaded not guilty to trafficking 18 grammes of cannabis. The charge alleged that the offence occurred on January 22 at Itaballi, Mazaruni.
Nelson, who told the magistrate that he had asthma and used the narcotics for medicinal purposes, was remanded until February 4, when he will appear before the Chief Magistrate in court 1.
