Top cricketers from the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and a number of former Guyana players will observe the death anniversary of the late Murtland Bagot by playing in a T20match this evening under lights at the club’s ground, Queenstown.
DCC president and former national U19 batsman Alfred Mentore, former Guyana wicketkeeper/batsman Neil Barry, former national off-spinners Garvin Nedd and Lennox Cush, former West Indies selector Clyde Butts and ex-Guyana and West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan are among the players
who will attempt to roll back the years in what should be a mouthwatering memorial match.
Also expected to play too are former West Indies players Reon King, Colin Stuart, Travis Dowlin and Keith Semple. Semple, Stabroek Sport understands, is back home on holiday.
Bagot, a former Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Demerara right-handed batsman became the first road fatality on the 108 square Mile Island of Antigua last year after he fell from a truck and was struck by a 4Runner on the Sir Sydney Walwyn Highway. He was 51 years old.

Lyght’s X1: Linden Lyght (Captain) Keith Semple, Mentore, Cush, Butts, Stuart, Sean Devers, Roddy Lovell, Mark Ferreira, Ron Ramnauth, Troy Halley, Bevaun Butts, Ronald Austin and Dexter Mckenzie.
The match gets underway at7pm.
