A fisherman who allegedly stole two pairs of shoes was yesterday denied bail after he was unable to provide a valid address to a city court.
Dundas Joseph appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty on a charge that on January 26 at Lot 47, Russell Street, Georgetown, he stole a pair of Kenneth Cole leather shoes, valued at $35,000 and a pair of sneakers, valued at $25,000. The shoes were the property of Akeem Josiah.
Joseph, who pleaded not guilty, told the court that he resided at Lot 121 Zeeburg, Parika but according to Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman, the accused told the police that he resided on the East Coast. When asked to clarify where exactly he lived, the accused was unable to do so and was subsequently denied bail as a result.
Joseph was remanded to prison until February 26, when the matter would be heard again.
