Police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Gary Mervin Primo, who is being sought for questioning in connection with the disappearance of two men, including a national footballer, who have not been seen since last September.
Police said Primo, called ‘Gary Talkout,’ 40, whose last known address is Lot 44 King Street, Republic Park, East Bank Demerara, is wanted for questioning in the investigation of the abduction of Ronson Anthony Williams and Carlos Anderson.
Williams, 28, a national football player and member of the Alpha United football team, and Anderson 20, a carpenter, disappeared on September 10, last year. Since then, police have been investigating.
The mothers of both men are fearing the worst but remain hopeful that they would be found alive.
Williams’s mother, Desiree Carter, told Stabroek News yesterday that she is happy that the police are moving to get answers on the disappearance of her son and his friend.
Williams is Carter’s only child and she has been devastated by his disappearance. When asked if she ever investigated her son’s disappearance by talking to his peers, she said she did. “Well, I asked but you know the young people, they always say they don’t know. Even if they knew anything they don’t want to say anything because nobody wants a police story… I still going around and ask,” she said.
Carter said the last time she spoke with her son was September 10, when he went home to collect some clothing and left to go to football. The mother said as she saw her son off, she noticed Anderson in the back seat of the car in which they drove off together.
Carter added that she has found it hard to cope with the harsh reality of her son’s disappearance and every day she prays for his return, but also prepares herself for the worst “because things like this don’t turn out positive.”
Meanwhile, Carmelita Pestano Anderson, the mother of Carlos Anderson, told Stabroek News that the issuing of the wanted bulletin for Primo may confirm some of the information she has received. The woman stated that she had never heard of the name but from her investigations the men’s disappearance may have been linked to the underworld.
She stated that days after the men reportedly went missing, someone went to her home and told her that Williams had given her son some money to keep and he was there to collect it. However, the woman said she told him she was not aware of any such transaction. She stated too that she was not aware of her son’s friendship with Williams.
The mother also complained about the police’s sloth in their investigation. She explained that it was only after she went to the media that the police started to pursue the case. She said the police arrested the man who went to collect money at her house but it was unclear to her if he remained in custody yesterday.
Anderson also questioned why fellow national football players and Williams’s coach along with his partner never did anything to seek answers about his disappearance. She stated that since the disappearance, she has been the person behind the police seeking answers.
The woman pleaded for members of the public, if they have any information as it relates to her son, to contact her. She explained that all she wants is peace of mind. “I never brought him up the wrong way. If he did anything it was his decision and influences by his friends… I just want a peace of mind to know what happened on that night. If he did anything wrong I will forgive him but I just want to know what happened,” the grieving mother said.
The police said that anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Primo is asked to contact them on telephone numbers 227-2128, 227-1149, 225-6411 226-7065, 911 or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidence, police assured.
